Yet another tiring
day... and I have so much to talk about so I shall go into a bit more
detail than the last post I did (Don't worry I wont do the same
amount of my dad), therefore it shall not be posted until saturday
night (GMT -8)... Today we woke up at about 7:30pm feeling refreshed
from day 2. We went to a different a different diner today, mainly
due to the fact there was police bikes out side of it and a police
car.
When we got into the diner we were seated just in front of the
cops, and they were so cool just talking about what they did the day
before, you wouldn't get a group of english cops doing that in a
diner before they were meant to go on duty.
I decided to have a
waffle with fresh fruit and whipped cream for breakfast.. Oh boy, it
was heavenly, I recommend all of you to try it out. Meanwhile my dad
went for a “leftys breakfast” which is basically eggs, bacon and
pancakes.
After breakfast we
caught a cable car hoping to walk down “Longbard Street”...
However there was a slight flaw in that plan, we didn't check if the
tram was going that way and guess what? It didn't... No big deal
though because we decided to take an epic adventure that would
require stamina from a bull and the leg muscles from a stallion...
that's right we went on a bike ride, it was great we took some
excellent pictures, I will sum up the route for you;
We Started off at pier
39, then cycled 1 mile straight and go up a 60 degree hill for about
500yards... then cary on for an extra 4 miles to the golden gate
bridge, cycle over the golden gate bridge which is about 1 mile (give
or take some) after going over the golden gate bridge continue down a
very nice steep hill, which took us down to “Sausilito” which is
where we got a boat back to what we thought would be pier 39...
Another flaw in yet another plan of ours, because it actually took
us to pier 1! so that meant we had to bike an extra mile to get back
to the bike rental zone. By this time we where already tired and
needed to rest our legs.
Overall the bike ride we did covered about
10 miles and at different gradients so by no means was this an easy
task... and to make matters worst we had head wind for most of it.
After we dropped the
bikes off we needed to get back to the hotel to get Alcatraz tickets
which we needed to do an Alcatraz tour that night, so we got a cable
car back to the hotel, we quickly got changed, grabbed the tickets
and went to catch the cable car back down to pier 49 however we have
not had a very good day with cable cars because every time we have
used them it has not took us to where we wanted to go, and this time
was no different, because we had to walk 3 or 4 blocks to get to the
Alcatraz tour place, but we did manage to get there you will all be
pleased to know. Haha.
The tour was fantastic
but from the prisons on the TV this was not much different inside
apart from some minor differences which you will be able to see in
the photo's once I upload them.
We first went on an audio tour around
the prison and the people telling us about the prison were ex-convicts. The tour finished at 8:40pm and we got back at the hotel
at about 10pm or around that time might have been a bit later, but no
later than 1030pm.
I had a nice relaxing bath and the watched 2
episodes of “Scrubs” and that's about it really nothing more to
say apart from I hope my feet feel better in the morning because
right now they are killing me.
Peace Out!
